Construction is underway on the Onslow Heath Service Redevelopment, which comprises a new hospital and facilities, constructed around the existing hospital building.
SGK provided mechanical and medical gas consultancy services for the project and are currently involved in supervision of the construction phase.
A number of challenges were overcome during the design to provide a robust and suitable solution to the air conditioning systems for a hospital located in an area subject to the following considerations:-
• Sub-tropical weather conditions (humid)
• Within 200m of the ocean (corrosion)
• Category C cyclone region
• Remote location (equipment service considerations)
